The West Wight Arts Association has been providing entertainment in the form of classical music in the Isle of Wight for over 60 years. We put on a season of eight chamber music concerts by talented young professional and established musicians on Saturdays monthly from September to April. All concerts start at 7.30pm at the Memorial Hall, Freshwater
Bartók: Rhapsody No 1 for cello and piano.
Beethoven: Cello Sonata in G Minor Op 5 no 2.
Bruch: Kol Nidrei. Bridge: Sonata for cello and piano (1917).
Goldberg Variations with introductory talk by Karim Said.
Songs by Bridge, Britten, Rodrigo, Strauss, Mozart, Puccini, Purcell, Gounod.
Haydn: String Quartet in C, Op.64 No.1.
Bartók: String Quartet No.4 (1926).
Schubert: String Quartet in D minor, D.810 “Death and the Maiden”.
Bach: Partita in C minor BWV826.
Beethoven: Piano Sonata No. 31 in A flat, Op. 110.
Richard Strauss: Enoch Arden op. 38 Melodrama for Piano and Narrator on a poem by Alfred, Lord Tennyson.
Works by Bach, Schnittke’s Revis Fairy Tale and music by the famous Russian accordionist and composer Viacheslav Semionov .
Mozart: Piano Sonata in G, K.283.
Schubert: Sonata in A, D.664 Op.Posth.120.
Schubert/Liszt: Song Transcriptions: Serenade and Erlking.
Debussy: Estampes- Pagodes- La soirée dans Grenade- Jardins sous la pluie.
Schumann: Symphonic Studies op.13.
Beethoven: Trio in C minor op 1 no 3.
Brahms: Trio in C major op 87.
Smetana: Trio in G minor.
The short meeting will be followed by a piano recital, after which cheese and wine will be served. All members and friends are invited to attend and contributions would be appreciated to help defray the costs of the evening
All concerts are held at 7.30pm in the Memorial Hall, Freshwater, which has full facilities for the disabled.
